Haven't played Dungeons and Dragons before?
Have misconceptions?
Curious as to what it actually IS?
I found a series of videos on YouTube explaining what it is and where it originated from.
We don't take the game as seriously as they do, as we prefer humor to strict roleplay, but that's not everyone's cup of tea. It works for us and keeps things from getting weird like the bad things you hear about from those few exceptions who take the game to unhealthy levels.
I hope that cleared up any confusion or provided information to those who wished to know more of the game. It's a fun and rewarding experience. Keep in mind that even though one decides the actions of his/her character, he/she is not actually that character. Elves and Dragons don't really exist. When a player can no longer distinguish the difference between fantasy and reality, that's when things turn sour and he/she has a problem.
D&D is not a bad or inherently evil; it's all about the perception...it's a game.
